Joe Gallea of Gallea’s Tropical Greenhouse & Florist was the first guest, also doing curbside service for people in search of Easter plants, floral arrangements, and Big Green Eggs for grilling. Scott Page, owner/founder of Full Moon Vista Bike & Sport, also called in to talk about using a bicycle to get outside and get exercise. They have decided to cancel the MVP Twilight Criterium professional bicycle race scheduled for June 6th, and will look forward to bringing it back in 2021.

This month before the lilacs bloom might be the most beautiful time of the year in Highland Park, with the first cherries and magnolias starting to bloom along with all the bulbs. Jean Westcott’s shop The Artful Gardener, is right across Mt. Hope Avenue from Highland Park and adjacent to Mt. Hope Cemetery. An update from John Urlaub, owner/founder of Rohrbach’s as they reopen both locations for takeout after simplifying their menu, as well as making food prep and customer pickup a more efficient operation that emphasizes social distancing recommendations. John Baker of Cheesy Eddie’s called to say that they were swamped with online orders for Easter, and have been doing curbside service at both South Avenue and their newer Henrietta location (Genesee Regional Market). While they are obviously known for cheesecake, Cheesy Eddie’s carrot cake has been in high demand.

Michael’s guest for the first hour of the wine show is Robin Ross of Arrowhead Spring Vineyards near Lockport, NY. Robin and Duncan Ross just opening a beautiful new timber frame tasting room and production facility in 2019. Their microclimate next to the Niagara Escarpment and Lake Ontario gives their red vinifera grapes extra ripening in the fall, and helps their vines avoid late frosts in the spring.
