The first trees to bloom in spring are about to open – The Yellow Dogwood, aka Cornelian Cherry (Cornus Mas). They will be followed by Serviceberries (Amelanchier) and Wild Cherry in several weeks. Red Maples and Silver Maples bloom early too, but they are often so high up that you can’t see the tiny flowers unless a branch breaks off and falls to the ground.
