Experience
Radio Show Host & Producer: Started in April 1994, “Naturally Green” is the name of Rochester’s only live gardening call-in show. The show is on Saturday mornings from 9-10 am on WYSL 1040 AM. All aspects of the shows, from production to advertising sales and promotion are my responsibility. I buy the time from the station and find my own sponsors. In the summer of 1996, “For the Love of Food” was added from 10-11 am on Saturdays. It is a show all about food, wine, restaurants, etc. In February 1998 two new shows were added on Sundays from 10-12 noon, “Antique Talk” with Ed Cornwell and “The Grapevine” Fine Wine Show. In January, 2001, a new travel show was launched from 11-12 noon on Saturdays – “The World Next Door.” In early 2004, the antiques hour became "Savor
Toronto", all about Toronto restaurants and Ontario wines. In addition the travel show was renamed
"Discover the Finger Lakes." (April 1994 - current)
Tour Leader: Organized ten annual tours to the Philadelphia Flower Show and Longwood Gardens. Hundreds of people have participated in the annual March tour to the largest indoor flower show in the world. Starting in 1997, additional tours were added. These include day trips to Cornell Plantations, Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls, and Finger Lakes wineries. Longer trips include the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and the Culinary Institute of America. (1992 - current)
Speaker: Presented over 500 seminars from 1990-2004 on a variety of gardening and landscaping subjects for continuing education programs and garden clubs. Restaurant & winery talks have become very popular. Approximately 6,000 people have attended these classes and seminars. (1990 - current)
Economist/Urban Forester: Project Assistant in the design of a cost benefit analysis of large trees for the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council. Collected existing biomass estimation equations on key tree species throughout the United States. Additional data on costs and benefits of large trees was collected and incorporated into this computer model of large tree benefits. The Large Tree Benefit Model is available from the National Arborists Association.(1995-1996)
President & Owner: Started Naturally Green, Inc. in the fall of 1989, transforming my horticultural hobby into a full-time business. The company provided natural lawn care services and landscape design throughout Monroe County. (1989-1997)
